Former Celtic Head of Football Operations, Nick Hammond, has taken a new job at Everton. He will now lead the English club’s player trading plans, helping with signings and sales.
Hammond joined Celtic in 2019. He was first brought in as a recruitment consultant but was soon given a bigger role.

He became Head of Football Operations, working closely with the coaching staff on transfers. During his time at Celtic, the club made several signings, but results on the pitch were mixed.
He left Celtic in 2021 and later worked for two Premier League clubs — Newcastle United and Leeds United — in short-term consultancy roles. At Newcastle, he was part of the early stages of their rebuild after the club’s takeover.
Now, Hammond steps into a more permanent role at Everton. The club has brought him in to improve how they do business in the transfer market. Everton have had a difficult few years, both on and off the pitch, and are trying to steady things behind the scenes.
Hammond has been involved in football recruitment for many years and has worked at clubs across England and Scotland. His experience is something Everton are hoping will help them make better decisions when buying and selling players.

While Celtic fans may have mixed views on Hammond’s time at the club, there’s no doubt he’s stayed involved in top-level football. His move to Everton is another chance to prove his value in one of the toughest leagues in the world.
He joins a club under pressure, but also with the chance to play a big part in shaping their future.
