One former Celtic defender is set to miss tomorrow’s must-win game at Celtic Park, with the Swiss right-back ruled out due to a back problem.
A win for Celtic against Young Boys will likely seal a place in the Champions League knockout playoffs, with the Bhoys currently on 9 points. A win would see the Hoops jump to 12 points, with 10 believed to be enough for a place in the top 24. Tomorrow’s game is arguably the Hoops’ biggest of the season so far.
The national report that Janko will miss the game due to a back injury, after previously suffering from a thigh injury before the Swiss league season started.
He has yet to play in the league this season for Young Boys in what has been a frustrating year for him due to injury.
The Swiss defender spent two years at Celtic from the summer of 2015 until 2017, with Janko going on loan to Barnsley in the Championship on transfer deadline day in 2016.
Janko would play just 10 league games under Ronny Deila in his first season in Glasgow before leaving to join Saint-Étienne in Ligue 1.
He was ultimately unsuccessful in displacing Mikael Lustig in the starting XI, with Lustig really peaking under Brendan Rodgers.
Since then, he has played for the likes of Nottingham Forest, Real Valladolid, and VfL Bochum in what has been an interesting career post-Celtic.
