Former Scottish international and Everton star Gary Naysmith has claimed everybody is now ‘fed up’ with Celtic winning everything and that most neutrals will want a Hearts win on Saturday in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
Celtic will take on Hearts with the goal of winning their ninth consecutive trophy in three years completing a treble treble. If Celtic manage to do achieve this then it would be an incredible feat unlikely to ever be matched. To go through so many games, so many cup ties and win it all in two seasons is crazy but a third would be monumental.
But try telling that to Gary Naysmith who believes everybody is sick of Celtic. However, we refuse to believe the people who are sick of the club winning things are ‘neutrals’ as they call it. A big piece of history could be made at Hampden but Gary wants a Hearts win all the way and believes so does everybody else apart from maybe Hibs fans.
“It sounds as though we’re not giving credit to Celtic for their achievement being on the brink of winning nine trophies out of nine,” he told the Scotsman. “But I think the public is now getting fed up of Celtic winning continuous trophies.
“For Hearts, though, it would be a good way to finish the season and I think most neutrals would want them to win it apart from Hibs fans. And, to be fair, if they were in the final instead of us, I’d want Celtic to beat them.”
No surprise Naysmith wants Hearts to win but to make the other claims is hardly being objective when he’s talking about neutrals.
The game kicks off 3pm on Saturday at Hampden.
