Reports now claim Everton is now in talks with the Sydney Cup organisers to play Celtic in the November competition.
CeltsAreHere were told by sources in Australia back in May the organisers were looking at a European Cup reunion with Inter Milan. For whatever reason, that has been put on the back burner and now The Toffees are frontrunners to fill the vacant spot.
There is a large contingent of EPL fans in Australia and specifically Everton fans who watched Tim Cahill turn on the style for years with Everton.

The vacant slot in the tournament is down to The Rangers pulling out of their contractual obligations due to an uproar from their supporters. The Sydney Cup were rightfully billing the tournament as Ange’s homecoming but it didn’t go down well at Ibrox.
It would be like Celtic going to a Dutch friendly tournament with The Rangers and being upset Giovanni van Bronkhorst was receiving more attention. It’s all a bit petty.
The good news for Celtic fans is the bhoys will still be paid top dollar to participate in the winter event.
