Celtic is reportedly on the verge of securing their first signing of the January window, with Rapid Vienna’s Nicolas Kuhn emerging as a key target.
After the opening salvo from Football Scotland on Wednesday evening about Celtic’s first bid. MailSport Plus has ignited the speculation, suggesting that Celtic’s management is increasingly confident about bringing the 24-year-old German winger to Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers, keen to enhance Celtic’s attacking prowess, has identified Kuhn as a prime candidate to strengthen the squad for the crucial second half of the season. It appears that Celtic have already initiated formal talks with Rapid Vienna, with a sense of optimism surrounding the discussions. The goal? To finalise Kuhn as Celtic’s inaugural January signing.
Kuhn’s football journey is marked by notable stints at some of Europe’s respected clubs. Having developed his skills with RB Leipzig and Ajax, he later joined the ranks of Bayern Munich before venturing to Austria in 2022. Rapid Vienna invested approximately £500,000 to acquire Kuhn, and now they’re reportedly expecting at least four times that amount for his transfer.
This season, the 24 year-old has demonstrated his value on the field, scoring three goals and delivering seven assists.
His potential arrival at Celtic could be a significant boost to the team’s offensive line-up, adding depth and versatility to Rodgers’ options. As the negotiations progress, Celtic fans eagerly await the possibility of seeing Kuhn don the famous green and white, potentially marking a pivotal moment in the club’s January transfer strategy.
What does it mean for some of Celtic’s wingers?
We are top heavy and if we sign another winger you would expect movement in the other way. Palma is just in the door and performing well, Liel Abada has just signed a new deal as has Daizen Maeda.

Mikey Johnston and Yang could be for the cutting board over the next few weeks. James Forrest is also sitting there but he’s part of the furniture at this point and we’d be surprised to see him leaves
