Brighton have begun talks with Celtic over potentially bringing midfielder Matt O’Riley to the Amex stadium, Sky Sports have reported.

Atalanta and Southampton have previously attempted to sign O’Riley, with Atalanta making three unsuccessful bids, all of which fell well short of Celtic’s valuation. Southampton’s approach was also rebuffed, as Celtic holds firm on their record-breaking price tag for the key midfielder.
O’Riley starred in Celtic’s season opener, with his side cruising to a convincing 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock. His contribution was pivotal, assisting Liam Scales and leading his team in both chance creation and successful dribbles.
It’s also been reported that Chelsea is considering O’Riley as a potential replacement for Conor Gallagher, who is linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.
The player isn’t pushing for a move at the moment and seems to be happy at Celtic.
Whether a move to Brighton would appease to him is another question. After finishing 11th last season, the Seagulls don’t have European football of any level to play this season, but they do have a chance of securing next season, as they’ve shown in the past.
