Embarrassing Defoe Tweet Shows Ibrox Club’s Real Level

Celtic are set to go head to head with Steven Gerrard’s men on Sunday where bragging rights are all that’s up for grabs after Celtic won their eighth consecutive title last weekend.

While Celtic fans have been hearing how horrible our team is and the need for change, the kudos coming from some towards the Ibrox club have fast become sycophantic and perpetuated by on-loan Ibrox striker Jermain Defoe.

The former English international came into Scottish football in January and his first tweet was a picture of he and Gerrard with the tag line ‘let’s bring that trophy home boss’ and you know what, loads of people believed that’s what was going to happen. Fortunately, Celtic knew the script and stuck to their task while grand gestures and talk was coming from the other side of Glasgow.

To show how far Defoe’s expectations have fallen since his first trophy tweet, he posted a belter out today that congratulated the Ibrox club for winning FIVE games on the bounce. So to be clear, he went from let’s win the league to – well done for winning five meaningless games after you lost the big one at Parkhead. Wow.

So how impressive is the five wins in a row brag?

Not very it would appear. Two clubs have managed more this season with Motherwell winning six on the bounce and of course, the champions winning 8 in a row (coincidence).

You then have the Ibrox club, St Johnstone and Hearts all on a five game winning streak.

Hibs, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen on four wins in a row each.

If the Ibrox club were to somehow when their last two games they wouldn’t be able to replicate Celtic’s best run this season.

If you look at not losing streak it gets worse them with Celtic having a run of 16 games this season without a loss while they only have a run of 8. Celtic’s run coming after the turn of the year and that’s with all the injuries, playing in the Europa League knock out stage and Brendan Rodgers leaving.
