Celtic are reportedly set to bank around £800,000 when Israel defender Hatem Elhamed completes his move back home to Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
According to the Daily Record, the club will allow the right-back to depart after it was made clear he wants to make the move back to his homeland due to feeling homesick.
Elhamed first joined the club back in 2019 for a fee that was thought to be in the region of £1.6 million from Be’er Sheva, in fairly strange circumstances with the move coming out of know where and also being quite an unknown player when he completed the move.
In his first season, he looked to be a fairly solid addition though putting in several good performances against the likes of Rangers and Lazio in the Europa League but also missed a lot of it due to injury problems.
It’s a shame to see him move on as he looked as though he had the potential to be a good player for the club. But ultimately the player’s welfare comes first and he was struggling on and off the pitch, which wouldn’t be helped by this pandemic without seeing his family regularly.
