“Egging Me On” – Forrest Reveals Celtic Squad’s Push for Personal Milestone

James Forrest is hoping to find the net before the season ends to maintain an impressive personal milestone – scoring in 16 consecutive campaigns for Celtic.

The 33-year-old winger, who has made 28 appearances this season and chipped in with five assists, is still waiting for his first goal of the campaign. But with just five matches remaining, including the Scottish Cup Final, the veteran is determined to get on the scoresheet once again.

Now the club’s most decorated player, with 26 trophies to his name, Forrest is keen to keep his remarkable run going.

When Forrest was introduced in last weekend’s 5-0 win over Dundee United, the Celtic fans and his teammates were eager to see him hit the target. With the match already well in hand, there were audible shouts from the stands urging the winger to shoot—support mirrored by the actions of his teammates on the pitch.

Speaking on the official Celtic FC podcast, Forrest said:

“I could even feel it was coming from the players on the park as well.

“With the scoreline and the way it was going, I could definitely feel that everyone was egging me on to try and score.

“Hopefully, going into the end of the season, I can try and do that [score].

“I think a few folk have joked when we get a penalty for me to hit it, but I’d hope to score in normal time.”

With Celtic still chasing a Treble, Forrest may yet have more opportunities to strike, though it’s clear there’s a strong will within the squad to see him hit that goal milestone before the curtain falls on the season.

Hopefully, he can get that goal in the coming weeks.
