Barkas has been at the top of Celtic’s list as a replacement for Fraser Forster for the past month. The goalkeeper appears to be keen on a move to Celtic and wages won’t be a stumbling block.
If the keeper signs before Sunday, he could be thrown in against Hamilton. However, with less than a week of preparation, it’s more likely Neil Lennon will initially go with Scott Bain.
The report claims the deal is for €5m plus bonuses and the Barkas will sign a four-year contract.
Celtic are also in talks to bring a striker in from West Ham on-loan. Albian Ajeti has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic Park over the past 24 hours.
