€5.5m Celtic Bid? – Director Accidentally Lets Slip Major Hoops Interest

Bratislava director Ivan Kmotrik said this week that Celtic had sent them an offer for their star striker Andraz Sporar.

The frontman has bagged 20 goals in 26 games for his club in all competitions this season and has attracted the attention of many clubs.

However it was Kmotrik’s insistence Celtic had made a bid for the player which obviously caught our attention.

The director might just have let slip how much that bid was for as he spoke about the striker’s future.

Kmotrik insists Celtic interest for a second time before moving into other clubs and the players valuation where he states Andraz’s transfer fee will be more than €5.5m. He couldn’t have plucked that number from nowhere – have Celtic tried to put a lot of money down for a striker in January already?

“Celtic showed a huge interest in Andraz, but we are not only in touch with them.” The director told SunSport.

“There is also interest from big clubs in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Belgium.

“We expect even more clubs will address offers during the next transfer period.

“Andraz’s value is higher than €5.5million. I can’t imagine selling him for lower than €7m to €8m.

“We already received big offers last summer, but he stayed at the club.”

Short term, Celtic need backup for Odsonne Edouard – long term they need a talented player in to eventually replace the Eddy when he does leave the club.

It would make sense Celtic are already active in trying to find that striker.

The January window is very near and Celtic don’t have wholesale changes to make. It’s all about finding the right type of quality.
