Rodgers’ Impossible €316million Euro Task

CELTIC are set for a doubleheader with Leipzig over the next month, but if anyone thinks there is going to be any let up after the Salzburg game, then they will be bitterly disappointed.

The bhoys are heading to Germany to play one of the Bundesliga’s most in-form teams.

Leipzig are currently SECOND in Germany’s top flight; three points behind first-placed Dortmund and one point ahead of Bayern Munich.

Celtic’s Europa opponents have proven in the first seven games that they are just as good as Monchengladbach and Werder Breman who are also nipping on the heels of Borussia.

It’s safe to say Leipzig are no joke.

So far the team has scored sixteen goals and conceded nine in the Bundesliga.

In the Europa League, they currently sit on the same points as Celtic having scored five goals and conceded four.

According to Transfer Markt, the German club’s squad has a current market value of €316million while Celtic’s team are valued at a much more modest €74million.

These figures are of course up for debate but what cannot be denied is the massive gap in spending power and given they are holding their own with Germany’s best at the moment, Celtic must endeavour to find a way to stop them on October 24th.

It’s not going to be a comfortable night, and it will take a lot of hard work and better overall performance to get a positive result.
