The transfer saga around Jakob Breum has taken another twist, with Dutch journalist Tijmen van Wissing claiming there are growing fears inside Go Ahead Eagles that Celtic could yet return for the Danish attacker.
Speaking on the latest reports, van Wissing explained that while there has been no firm move from the Hoops in recent weeks, the situation could reportedly quickly change depending on Celtic’s European fate.
Celtic face a decisive Champions League play-off against Kairat Almaty next week, with a league phase spot and a major financial windfall on the line.
“On the outgoing side, there is nothing concrete yet,” van Wissing said. “But there is some fear that Celtic might still come for Breum. Especially if they qualify for the Champions League. They know very clearly what Go Ahead wants.”
Go Ahead have been consistent throughout the summer in their £6million valuation of the 21-year-old. While Celtic have tested the waters with a series of lower offers, none have come close to that figure, leaving negotiations at a standstill.
Reports emerged earlier today that there have been no new discussions since July, despite claims elsewhere of fresh talks. Van Wissing’s comments suggest the Dutch side remain wary, knowing Celtic’s financial muscle could grow significantly if they progress in Europe.

Breum has already attracted interest from within the Eredivisie, but Go Ahead are in no rush to sell. The player is viewed as central to their season, and any departure would only happen on their terms.
For Celtic, the next week could prove decisive. Secure Champions League football and the funds to match, and they may yet be tempted to go back to the table. Fail to progress in Kazakhstan, and the move could slip away entirely.
