Done Deal: Striker Leaves Celtic On Permanent Deal

VAKOUN BAYO has ended his time at Celtic on a permanent basis this evening as his deal with Belgian side Gent is confirmed.

The Ivory Coast man was signed under Brendan Rodgers under the recommendation from Kolo Toure.

The striker failed to make a mark in the hoops and ended up out on loan to French side Toulouse. The Ligue 2 club wanted to keep a hold of Bayo for another season but couldn’t afford to keep him on after failing to gain promotion to the top flight.

Earlier today, it was reported the player was on his way to Belgium to sign for an unknown club earlier today. It’s transpired that club was Gent and they’ve moved to secure the frontman.

The fee is undisclosed, but we’ll likely get an idea of what Gent paid Celtic in the coming days.

Celtic have two strikers they’re likely to call on for the Champions League qualifier; Ajeti and Edouard are available while Leigh Griffiths remains in Glasgow after being sent home from the bhoys pre-season camp.
