The rumour mill will now begin on what has led to this incredible exit. Is it genuinely personal reasons that were unforeseen or has Mckay walked away due to meddling from the board?
That’s the big question.
We have had a conversation with Dom on two occasions to this point where he’s been very positive about the path ahead and how he was looking forward to building something at Celtic with Ange.
The Chief Exec was a big reason why the club went for Ange Postecoglou this summer after the Eddie Howe deal fell apart.
Celtic as a club have not been run professionally for a while and this is another developing story that will detract from the work on the pitch.
The news has come out of nowhere and even people at the club have just found out at the same time as the rest of us.
Where do we go from here? Dom shadowed Peter Lawwell, he was groomed for the position for the last six months and was making inroads on modernisation etc. Now everything that has been discussed is up in the air.
