‘Doesn’t play Enough’ Sky Sports Pundit’s Honest Celtic Transfer Verdict

Former Celtic star and Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker has tipped the Parkhead club to do business this summer that will Liel Abada head for the exit.

The winger has been linked with a move away for around two months now. In what feels like a similar situation to Giorgos Giakoumakis, the player would like more game time and a better contract.

CeltsAreHere understands talks between the club and the player’s reps has reached an impasse at the moment.

Sky Sports reported on Monday, Ajax and a number of EPL clubs are interesting in snapping up the Celtic winger this summer.

Speaking on Go Radio, Walker believes Celtic will be ready to do business and would t be adversely effected by Abada’s exit because of their track record in recruitment: “I think Celtic have shown over the last number of years that they are a club that are always willing to do business. And if Ajax are in for Abada, from memory, I think he’s got around 10 goals this season but he doesn’t play enough for himself.

“I think he’s fit. I think Celtic will do business. They will make a profit from him and they will go and get someone else. And you’ve got to say, he’s had a terrific attitude. He has been brilliant in big games.

“He’s been brilliant against Rangers. He has scored goals on the big occasion and has looked an exciting player. Celtic will miss him in as much the same way as they miss Giakoumakis and Juranovic. These guys come and go and you change the menu pretty regularly.”

Should Celtic look to keep Abada?

It all comes down to what kind of bids come in for the youngster. Celtic have the Israeli under contract until 2026 and are not up against it to sell him during the summer window.

There’s a scenario where Ange tells the Celtic board he sees Abada coming into the fray more next term and to offer the player improved terms.

It’s all depended on Liel’s attitude towards playing for Celtic for the next few seasons. The Australian manager has made it clear to his team, either you’re all in, or you’re out. Just ask Josip Juranovic and Giakoumakis.
