According to the Irish independent, Fergal Harkin will not be joining Celtic this summer as a Director of Football.
This was probably the last crumb of comfort fans had as the club look set to appoint a manager from outside of Europe.
The theory was Harkin was looking to bring Ange Postecoglou into the fold with the City groups connection to Ange’s current employers – Yokohama Marinos.
If Fergal isn’t coming, who has pulled the trigger on the potential deal to bring the Australian over to the club and what’s the driving force behind thinking Postecoglou is the man for the job?
Have we just looked down a list and looked at managers who can come in as soon as possible? It feels that way, even if it isn’t the case.
Celtic fans are very concerned by the lack of leadership and a clear vision. Eddie Howe was their man and now he’s not in the frame, they’re not even going for a similar style of manager. What is the club’s vision? They don’t appear to have one.
If Fergal isn’t coming then do we even have a DoF, are they about to tell us this was just a media myth and they were never going to appoint one?
Celtic fans have been reacting to the potential news.
