Dinamo Zagreb’s Goalless Run Continues as Celtic Clash Looms

Celtic’s next European opponents, Dinamo Zagreb, failed to score for the third game running as they were beaten 1-0 by Hajduk Split at the weekend.

Niko Sigur scored the game’s only goal as Zagreb remained third in the Croatian top flight, seven points behind league leaders Hajduk.

Despite having 58% of the ball in yesterday’s match, Nenad Bjelica’s side registered a solitary shot on target and extended their goalless run to three games.

Now, after a 0-0 draw with Rijeka and back-to-back losses to Borussia Dortmund and Hajduk, Zagreb haven’t scored in 274 minutes of football.

They play just once more before facing Celtic on Friday night against Slaven. Their fixture was likely moved to accommodate more rest time ahead of the Hoops’ visit.

Zagreb will look to get back on track at the end of this week and find their shooting boots before the Scottish Premiership champions head to Croatia next Tuesday.

The Bhoys know that three points on the road would see them through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, but Brendan Rodgers has two domestic fixtures to contend with before he turns his attention back to the European scene.

The boss takes his team to Aberdeen for a table-topping clash on Wednesday before Hibernian visit Parkhead on Saturday. Only after those two matches are played out can Rodgers shift his focus to Zagreb.
