Dinamo Zagreb Boss Nenad Bjelica’s Bold Verdict on Celtic Draw

Dinamo Zagreb manager Nenad Bjelica has revealed how he believes that only one team deserved a win in the Croatian Champions’ 0-0 draw against Celtic last night.

Bjelica was bullish post-match, with six first-team players missing the game, including captain Arijan Ademi.

Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was forced into making two big saves in the game, one from Martin Baturina and another from Marko Pjaca.

With the Dinamo Zagreb boss very bold in his analysis of the game.

He said: (Daily Record), “My boys played a great game today. They achieved everything I asked of them, we didn’t allow anything to the opponent.

“We had a very good chance from Pjaca, two shots from Baturina, so if anyone should have won, it was us.

“Rog and Kacavenda did a great job in the middle, neither of them are defensive midfielders, but they did a perfect job in defence. They also brought some momentum forward when they could.”

Celtic certainly dominated possession in the game but did lack the killer instinct in the final third of the pitch.

With Bjelica touching on this; however, to say that Zagreb deserved to win the game more is simply not true.

For much of the game, they appeared on the back foot, comfortable to play for the draw, while late in the game, Celtic looked to find a late winner.

Zagreb are clearly not at their best due to injuries; however, if the game had opened up more with a goal, it certainly would have suited Celtic more, as the Hoops looked to play possession football, while the Croatian champions were more than happy just to counter-attack.
