The Argentine tactician expressed his admiration for Celtic’s style of play, noting their high-tempo game and commendable transition play.

Simeone has been with the Spanish side for 12 years, and has recently penned a new deal with the club.

Speaking about Celtic ahead of the encounter on Wednesday night, he said: [RecordSport]

“Celtic is a tough rival, with some really strong players.

“I really admire the way they play football and it is going to be a tough game.

“We are going to approach the game with a lot of enthusiasm and vigour.

“In their games against Lazio and Feyenoord, especially in the first 60-70 minutes, Celtic played at a really high tempo.

“They are good in transition and have a strong system that they stuck to.

“They will press you in your own half and playing here, it is a really historic stadium.”

Celtic have performed well in the Champions League so far this season, but they don’t have anything to back it up.

Brendan Rodgers is setting out to take some points off the Spanish side on Wednesday night, with it crucial that points are picked up if Celtic do want to progress in Europe after Christmas.

It’s going to be a big challenge for the Celts, but hopefully, their performances can lead to some points on the board.
