Celtic’s Daizen Maeda was awarded Man of the Match after his brace against Dundee at Celtic Park last night; however, it’s his second goal that has begun to garner debate.
A wonderful Arne Engels through ball found Maeda with Trevor Carson caught off his line in the 59th minute. The Japanese winger had only one idea in his mind: go for goal. He made no mistakes, scoring a contender for goal of the season.
Having already scored just four minutes earlier, Maeda’s confidence was riding high, and arguably, it was his best goal in a Celtic shirt. But don’t just take our word for it—have your say!

With much made of Kyogo’s departure, Maeda’s goal-scoring form from the left wing, right wing, and through the middle makes him impossible for opposition players to stop, as he can play so many roles in this current Celtic team.
Much has been made of his poor technique on the ball at times, but that has dramatically improved over the last year.

Aspects of his game that were previously weaknesses are now strengths. A shot that he would have likely blasted into the stands 18 months ago was beautifully finished into the net— a Henrik Larsson-esque finish from the Japanese international.
It has undoubtedly been his best season at Celtic so far. With the business end of the season underway, Maeda looks set to add to his Hoops legacy with goals and assists. Tonight, he showed why this season, alongside Nicolas Kuhn, he has been Celtic’s player of the season.
