‘Desperate to play for Celtic’ Defender Pushing for Parkhead Move; Tricky Contract Clause

It’s being reported Declan Gallagher is actively pursuing a dream move to Celtic this month as he looks to be the answer to the club’s defensive issues.

Gallagher was a colossus for his country back in November when they qualified for their first major tournament in over two decades.

He’s been part of a struggling Motherwell side who saw their manager walk away last week.

Declan believes there’s interest from Celtic and he’s in the final six months of his contract.

The only thing standing in the way of a dream move would be a contract clause extension which triggers if Declan played 6 more games for Motherwell. They they could command a fee for the player which could see Celtic look elsewhere.

A source close to the player told RecordSport: He is desperate to play for Celtic and in the current climate, he would be a brilliant signing.

“But with this contract and the automatic extension, he feels he has a gun to his head.”

Gallagher would come full circle if he made the move to Celtic; he once was on the books as a young kid but didn’t make the breakthrough.

He’s not a blue chip signing but could he be effective for the rest of this season and provide cover for Christopher Jullien?
