Despair for Celtic as They Pay the Penalty

Celtic’s developmental side were put out of the Scottish Youth Cup last night as they fell to Hibernian 4-2 on penalties.

In a game where the margins were small, 120 minutes passed without a goal being scored.

The Celtic website match reporter described the game well:

It was an entertaining and fiercely-contested cup-tie, with both sides always looking to take the game to their opponents, and it was surprising that there were no goals in 120 minutes of action.

Hibernian are at the top of the developmental league and have shown their class this season.

On the night, they did enough on penalties to knock the young Celtic side out who will have to regroup as they try and work through a fixture pile up.

Squad on the night.

CELTIC: Doohan, Duffy, Welsh (Bell 46), Deas(c), Miller, Hill, McInroy, Johnston (Watson 59), Hendry, Henderson (Crossan 84), Aitchison.
Subs: Willison, Mazis, Church, Potter.
