According to Balls.ie Celtic and more specifically Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond are looking to buy a significant stake in Shamrock Rovers.
The surprising deal would make Shamrock Rovers Celtic’s top feeder club getting first refusal on any player at the Irish club, while Rovers would likely benefit from Celtic sending over young talent in need of competitive football.
There are good links between the club already and Brendan Rodgers and Rovers boss Bradley have worked together in England.
Desmond usually stays in the background for deals but if the reports are, the businessman is driving the deal and could be the one to get it over the line.

Desmond is Celtic’s majority shareholder but you rarely see him around the club – he doesn’t even come in for the AGM anymore and leaves the day to day running of the club to the board and Chief Executive.
There’s no doubt having a feeder club would be a good move for Celtic but during this January window, fans want to see players being signed, not a whole club.
