Derek Ferguson Concedes League Title While Questioned if Celtic will go Unbeaten

Celtic’s dominance in the Scottish Premiership has led pundits and former players to declare the league title all but secured before the festive season.

With an 11-point gap over second-placed Aberdeen and Rangers trailing in third under Philippe Clement, Brendan Rodgers’ side appears untouchable at the summit.

The Hoops have displayed the hallmark of champions—delivering results even on less-than-perfect days. A gritty 1-0 victory over Aberdeen midweek exemplified their ability to grind out wins when needed, extending their unbeaten run domestically.

With 14 wins in 15 matches, the team’s blend of squad depth and tactical flexibility has proved too much for their challengers.

Rangers-supporting pundit Derek Ferguson, speaking on Si Ferry’s Open Goal, admitted Celtic’s supremacy:

“Is the league over in December? Aye. I don’t see Rangers making that up.”

Former Scotland international James McFadden joined the chorus of pundits conceding the title race:

“Well, Celtic are gonna win the league.”

Rangers have faltered this season, with inconsistency under Philippe Clement seeing them drop points on five occasions. The Ibrox side now sits four points behind Aberdeen and a staggering 11 points off Celtic.

The Premier Sports Cup final in 10 days’ time at Hampden Park is seen as Rangers’ best opportunity to derail Celtic’s treble ambitions. The showpiece event will serve as a crucial moment for Clement’s Rangers to salvage pride and shift momentum, albeit in a different competition.

Ferguson expressed cautious optimism for the final:

“Will Celtic go unbeaten?

“No, I’m just thinking somewhere along the line that Rangers will beat them, put a dent in them. I’m hoping it’s in 10 days time by the way!”
