BRENDAN RODGERS has told Celtic fans both Cristian Gamboa and Jozo Simunovic will head for scans today to see the extent of their injuries.
Gamboa limped off while Jozo was stretchered off during Celtic’s 2-0 defeat to Leipzig on Thursday night.
It was a massive gamble to play Jozo last night fresh off an injury knowing he would be the man to help lead the line against Hearts on Sunday but with so many injury problems the Croatian was put in.
Now it looks like he will miss the League Cup semi-final leaving Brendan Rodgers no choice but to field Jack Hendry for the tie.
This constitutes as somewhat of a defensive crisis when you take into account Benkovic is not at 100% as well.
Actually, as we type this – Rodgers is a Benkovic injury away from telling Marvin Compper to suit up. That’s where we’re at with available defenders.
Celtic are really paying for Dedryck Boyata’s straight red for sustained dissent in the 1-0 win over St Johnstone last month.
Gamboa is less of a blow as he wouldn’t have been expected to start the semi-final.
