Defending Neil Lennon: Celtic Star Hits Back

Moi Elyounoussi has come to the defence of his manager saying it’s too easy to blame everything on him.

The midfielder scored a quality goal during the 2-2 draw at Livingston on Wednesday but more dropped points seen calls get even louder for the manager to leave.

The winger will head back to Southampton at the end of the season, right now, that will be without reaching his full potential in a Celtic jersey.

Speaking about the manager, the Norway international told SunSport.

“I think it is way too easy to just go for the boss and say we need a change. I think he does a really good job with the motivational speeches he gives us before and after games.

“He is a strong guy and it is way too easy to blame him. It is a team sport.”

The manager is not 100% to blame, but he shoulders a lot of the burden. Others like Peter Lawwell and Nicky Hammond have their share of the blame too.

A lot of the players haven’t been good enough this season but at the end of the day, the manager is there to get the best out of them.

It’s going to be difficult to get your team playing when you call them out after a Champions League exit, tell them to ‘just go’ then everyone of them stays beyond the window.

It’s been a shambles of a season and while Lennon isn’t fully to blame, he’s not been good enough tactically and has clearly brought down the level of professionalism at the club.
