David Turnbull’s Celtic Verdict

Celtic midfielder David Turnbull admits that in his time at the club he thinks that the Hoops have rued their missed chances on many occasions this season.

Speaking to the club’s official website, it was a similar feeling after yesterday’s derby day defeat in which we had plenty of chances to take something from the game. But once again, missing chances and poor defensive mistakes cost us in the end.

The former Motherwell man, who signed for the club in the summer has noticed that trend in his first year at Parkhead.

“I feel we have been performing well as a team over the past however long it has been. But it’s about being clinical and we’ve not been that.

“It has been like that in a good few games this season. We created a lot of chances but it’s about taking them. It’s tough to take after all the success we’ve had, to have that this season.

“Since the start of the season, or since I’ve been here especially, it feels like we’ve created plenty but not takes as many as we should. I’m not sure what needs to change. We go into each game looking to win and get some form until the end of the season, then pushing on, and we’ll see what happens next season.”

This has clearly been a problem in several games this season, whether that be Neil Lennon or John Kennedy’s side.

In the second half yesterday, we probably created enough chances to pull it back in that 45 minutes alone.

What was evidently clear on Sunday was that whoever is to take on the major roles at the club going forward have a massive job on their hands, with a lot to do in preparation for next season.
