David Martindale’s Postecoglou Praise

DAVID MARTINDALE has praised Ange Postecoglou ahead of the encounter in West Lothian on Sunday at lunchtime.

The sides meet at the Toni Macaroni, with Celtic hoping that they can restore their four-point lead at the top of the table after The Rangers got back to winning ways at Ibrox on Saturday.

The Livi manager believes that Postecoglou will soon make a big move to the Premier League or progress with Celtic in the Champions League. The Scottish manager believes that the Aussie is one of the best managers in the division, showing this by improving his players.

As quoted by the Scottish Sun, David Martindale made his prediction and praised the Celtic boss, saying;

“We can all see Ange’s trajectory. He’s been in the A-League, the J-League, now here.

“If he keeps doing what he’s doing it won’t be long before he is managing a team in the Premier League if that’s what he wants.

“Or maybe he’ll progress Celtic in the Champions League group stages because that’s probably the next evolution in their progression.

“He’s more than capable of doing that.

“I don’t mean this against any Scottish manager, including me, but if you go through the Premiership I think he’s the standout coach.

“Yes, budgets play a huge part, but does Ange make players better?

“That’s how I judge other managers, do they make players better?

“It does not matter if you have £50million or £60m — do you make players better?

“I’m recruiting players with a budget of £1m- £1.3m but it’s still relative, can I make these players better?

“I look at Ange, he’s got a big budget but does he make those players better? I think you can conclusively say he does.

“In fact, he dramatically improves players and that tells me everything about Ange. It takes budget out of it.

“You could go through 70 per cent of that Celtic team, and hand on heart, I can say he’s made them better from the day they have gone in the building.”

It doesn’t look like Postecoglou will be leaving Celtic anytime soon. Despite being linked to every job that becomes available down south, he sees Celtic as a project, especially in Europe. He’s shown no signs of wanting to move on and is happy in his current position.
