Speculation about Celtic’s potential move for Brondby’s striker Mathias Kvistgaarden has started to resurface.

Celtic have had Kvistgaarden on their radar for at least the last year and could be considering a fresh approach this summer.

Carsten Jansen, CEO of Brondby, recently discussed the club’s ambitions and the inevitable changes that the upcoming transfer window might bring.

Jansen expressed a strong desire to elevate the club’s status both domestically and in European competitions but acknowledged the difficulties in retaining top talent like Kvistgaarden.

He said: “We have an ambition to establish ourselves at the top of Danish football, play regularly in Europe and lift ourselves to a new level.

“That would be a good step on the way. We must have a competitive squad. As a starting point, it’s not because too many people have to go out, but there will be turnover over the summer.

“There was some interest previously and we expect more. It’s also nice to have some new blood and so on.” [Daily Record]

Celtic were interested in the striker, who has netted 10 goals this season, in the January transfer window. However, the Danish side weren’t willing to part ways with the attacker partway through the season.

With Celtic in need of reinforcing their attacking options following Adam Idah’s return to Norwich after his loan spell came to an end, Kvistgaarden appears as a potential candidate.

Celtic had previously diverted their attention to Adam Idah in January when negotiations for Kvistgaarden fell through. However, with Idah’s future also up in the air and the pressing need for a reliable striker, Celtic’s interest in the Danish forward has been reignited.
