Daniel Kelly Pinpoints The Celtic First-team Coach Who Has Helped Him

Young Celtic midfielder Daniel Kelly has shot his way up through the ranks at Lennoxtown over the past few weeks and months.

Not many supporters had ever heard of the teenager before his debut against Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup but now, he regularly churns out substitute appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ first-team.

A new long-term contract for the 18-year-old doesn’t seem too far away. A fresh deal is something Kelly fully warrants given his performances so far.

He impressed for the B team but since moving up to the senior side, one particular coach has helped Kelly massively.

The youngster pinpointed who has come to his aid since his transition: “Obviously I’m up training every day and I’ll do specific stuff with Gavin Strachan after training”, he said (Celtic FC on YouTube).

“I’ll go over my clips with him as well which is beneficial to my game and helps me.”

Manager Brendan Rodgers is known for nurturing young talent, but it is good to see his coaches helping develop the youngsters, too.

The manager recently confirmed that the club are in talks with Kelly over a new deal and given the potential he has shown since moving up to the senior side, few would be disheartened by the midfielder elongating his Celtic career.
