Damien Duff will officially leave the club in June when his contract runs out. The coach has been part of the first team set up since Neil Lennon came back to the club.

Duff and Kennedy helped bridge the gap between the players and the new manager, facilitating the transition from Rodgers to Lennon.

Given we have won every single domestic trophy, even after Rodgers left, they certainly have played their part.

With Duff heading to the Ireland setup, it means there will be a void in the Celtic camp.

It’s unclear how much say Neil Lennon will get in picking the next coach to replace Damien. John Kennedy is proof the club like to promote from within, so will that trend continue this summer and play a part in replacing the outgoing coach?

There are two former players, both who came through the ranks at the club to play for the first team currently coaching at youth level with Celtic.

Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea have returned to the club over the past 18 months to help bring on the best young talent.

Will Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon see this as the perfect opportunity to promote one of these bhoys? McManus has been at the club in a coaching capacity a little longer than Darren and has captained the club in his playing days. It would certainly not be out of the realms of possibility for Stephen to slip into Damien’s place in June.
