Kenny Dalglish has told MirrorSport that only people with an agenda wants the seasons in both England and Scotland to be null and void.
The Celtic and Liverpool legend has two dogs in the fight for sure but the people he’s talking about know this to be true but if you’re a club trying to fight of relegation OR a club that doesn’t want to see their rivals get their rightful accolades then you will push back out of partisan priorities.
Most of the season has been played and when it comes to champions in the leagues, we all know who the winners were going to be before the shutdown. Some rival fans are licking their lips and giving it all the bravado because no balls can be kicked.
Dalglish explains why the season can’t be null and void this season and speaks of the unfairness of any scenario unfolding.
“What must definitely not happen is for the 2019-20 campaign to be declared null and void.
“That would not be fair, and any person with football at heart would admit that would be totally out of order.
“In Scotland, would it be fair to say to the Premiership leaders, Celtic, that all of their efforts in the past nine months over 30 games count for nothing?
“Of course not. Nobody can allow the hard work to count for nothing.
“The same would apply to Dundee United in the Championship.
“So let’s do away with any of this talk, and try to use our time and energy wisely.
“I’ve been in football for more than 50 years and I know what goes into it. The season must be completed.”
“Would any person without an agenda really think it would be the most-sensible outcome to deny Liverpool their chance of winning the title after doing fantastically well in their 29 league games so far to build up a 25-point lead over Manchester City with nine games remaining?”
This is uncharted waters and we must not flinch from tough decisions. Commons sense decisions should prevail and the noise from the usual suspects should be drowned out.
The next week and beyond look like they’re going to be very hectic.
