Daizen Maeda Reunites With Former Celtic Coach in Japan

Celtic began their preparations for the new campaign at the end of last week, with players beginning to trickle back to Lennoxtown for pre-season.

Those who had no international commitments were the first to report back to training, with players who turned out for their countries at the end of last season having an extra few weeks break.

One of those is Daizen Maeda. He is still back in his homeland and over the weekend, linked up with former Celtic coach Harry Kewell.

The winger posted a snap of the pair together on his Instagram account, along with a few photos of him with his son:

Having worked closely together with the Scottish champions, Maeda and Kewell enjoyed a tight-knit relationship.

The Aussie, who is now in charge of the forward’s old club, Yokohama F. Marinos, could be regularly seen working personally with Maeda in Celtic warm-ups.

Despite how directly Kewell trained Maeda, when he left for his new venture in the Far East, there was no drop-off in the 26-year-old’s performance levels.

Maeda remained a key figure for Brendan Rodgers throughout last season, making some iconic contributions in Glasgow derbies towards the business end of the campaign.
