Daizen Maeda Reacts to Brendan Rodgers Appointment

Celtic replaced Ange Postecoglou with Brendan Rodgers on Monday.

Such a move has appeased many Hoops fans everywhere and it certainly hasn’t prevented Daizen Maeda from feeling any sense of discomfort.

Despite the Japanese having an extremely close relationship with Postecoglou, he is eager to impress under new management.

The mercurial winger netted in Japan’s 4-1 thumping of Peru on Tuesday and following the match, gave his thoughts on the new managerial situation at his club.

Maeda said (Daily Record):

“I don’t know where my position will be with the change of manager at Celtic. But my priority is to perform well in every game so I can still be in the team.

“I know I still have a long way to go to develop as a player on the left side of attack. But I feel I am improving and I want to keep doing things my way.”

Humble as ever, Maeda sounds eager to contribute under Rodgers.

This is encouraging to hear and hopefully, the 25 year old can kick on and hit new heights with a new gaffer at the helm.
