Celtic’s young left-back Matthew Anderson won’t be given a chance to impress this pre-season.
The Scotland Under-21 international has completed a surprise transfer to Belgian second-tier side KV Kortrijk, signing a three-year deal, The Celtic Way reports.
Anderson had been on loan at Admira Wacker for the past two seasons as part of Celtic’s partnership with the Austrian club, and he impressed enough to join Brendan Rodgers’ pre-season preparations in Glasgow, many assumed.
With Kieran Tierney to start at left-back and Greg Taylor likely to depart for PAOK, Anderson looked like he could be set to challenge for a place in the squad – but Kortrijk moved quickly to beat off competition from the likes of Exeter City, SK Sturm Graz, Toulouse, Aberdeen and Hearts.

Celtic have opted for a“cut-price sale with a significant sell-on clause to safeguard their interests.
The move brings regular first-team football for Matthew Anderson, with an ambitious club backed by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan.
Celtic must now look to add a left-back to the squad, and do it soon. Mitchel Frame hasnt been heard of much since he made his senior debut, with injuries hampering his development. Kieran Tierney’s injury history speaks for itself, and he needs a strong deputy to manage game time with.
