‘Critical But Stable’ – Jackie McNamara Update

JACKIE MCNAMARA was rushed to hospital on Sunday night and had to undergo emergency surgery for a bleed on the brain after collapsing near his home in York.

The former Celtic player falling ill has shocked the Celtic support and his former teammates. Everybody has been sending their well wishes and prayers to Jackie and his family at this very difficult time.

This morning an update came from a spokesperson at the hospital via the Daily Record:

“We can confirm Jackie McNamara was admitted to Hull Royal Infirmary on Sunday night and is currently being cared for in our Intensive Care Unit. He remains in a critical but stable condition.

“We are supporting both Jackie and his family, who request their privacy to be respected at this time.”

Jackie is only 46 and still has good ties with the club he played with for ten years. The former player regularly takes part in Celtic nights around the country as well as running a Celtic bar in Spain with Simon Donnelly.

The reaction of the football community tells you all you need to know about Jackie as a person.

We’re all hoping he can make a full recovery in the coming days and weeks.
