IBROX WOMEN COACH Craig McPherson has been handed a six–match ban by the SFA following an incident with Celtic Women‘s head coach Fran Alonso. [SFA]
McPherson was captured on camera aiming a headbutt towards the back of Alonso‘s head at the end of a fiercely contested Old Firm derby, which ended in a 1–1 draw.
Police are still conducting an investigation into the incident.
McPherson faced a hearing in front of an SFA panel today and admitted to the charge. The charge, under disciplinary rule 77.
Brogan Hay had put the Light Blues in front in the first half, capitalising on a mistake inside the box from Kelly Clark in the 36th minute.
However, Caitlyn Hayes scored a dramatic equaliser in the ninth minute of stoppage time, securing a point for the Hoops, which saw the side stay above their Glasgow rivals, but dampened their title hopes.
