Covid Reality Bites as SPFL Player Tests Positve

If you didn’t realise how hard this season is going to be with the pandemic hanging over us, then the news this afternoon will be sobering.

An Aberdeen player has been confirmed as positive for the virus, five days after the club played Rangers at Pittodrie and two days out from their next tie.

The fixture list is jammed and if players and whole squads need to quarantine throughout the season – it’s going to get very tricky.

Aberdeen went into lockdown again after a spike in cases, the Dons were exempt from the travel rule and were allowed to take part in this weekend’s fixture. However, this positive test throws a spanner in the works. There’s no word on who has tested positive or how many tests have been done on the player.

Celtic are due to play the Dons next Saturday too. We await what the protocol will be and if it was someone who took to the field against Rangers.
