CELTIC now know who they will face in the first qualifying round of the Champions League; a trip to Bosnia to play FK Sarajevo awaits the Scottish Champions.
The bhoys will find out later on today who their potential second round opponents would be should they get past Sarajevo.
However, before they can look beyond the first round there’s the small matter of UEFA’s hard deadline for registering players for the first qualifying round.
While the first leg of fixture won’t take place until July 9/10, the club needs to send their registered player list to UEFA by midnight July 4. That means they have two weeks to bring in players who could potentially play in the first leg. Celtic only have one recognised right back in Anthony Ralston at the minute and will have no choice but to play the youngster should they fail to bring some competition into the squad before then.
Celtic’s saving grace is if they allow for space they can admit ONE wildcard into the squad 24 hours before the first leg. Once that window is closed, Celtic’s squad is locked in until the next round.
