Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expressed satisfaction with his side’s relentless second-half performance in their 4-0 victory over Motherwell on Boxing Day but insisted the team could have scored even more.

Speaking after the match, Rodgers praised the players’ mindset and drive to keep pushing for goals after going 2-0 up.
Celtic’s second-half performance saw three goals, with Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kühn, and Reo Hatate all finding the net to round off an emphatic win. Rodgers highlighted the team’s hunger to extend their lead, refusing to settle for a comfortable margin.
Substitutes played a key role in maintaining the intensity, with Kühn’s goal exemplifying the impact Rodgers expects from his bench.
Rodgers told the BBC: “Could’ve been more. We had other opportunities to make it even more convincing, but I was really pleased with the mind of the players and how they did keep going.
“We didn’t sit off happy with 2-0. We kept going, and we could’ve had more. The players coming on also had a good impact for us.”
The victory solidifies Celtic’s position at the top of the table, maintaining their substantial lead over their nearest rivals.
With another home fixture against St Johnstone on Sunday, Rodgers will be eager for his players to carry this momentum into the New Year.
It was a better second-half display from the Bhoys; he didn’t really impress in the first 45. Engels, in particular, seemed to step up in the second half and put in a good performance, earning himself the Man of the Match award.
It’s great timing for Engels to get up to speed, with a Derby at Ibrox just a week away.
