Could French Ace Edouard Return to Celtic?

Despite Brendan Rodgers retaining the SPL, the Irishman’s return is still a bit of a sore point for some fans. Following Postecoglu’s exciting attacking style, Rodger’s first season back hasn’t been as impressive as it could have been.

One of the reasons for this could be the fact that Celtic doesn’t have a striker in the top three goalscorers for the SPL this season. In fact, Matt O’Riley is the club’s top scorer, 2 ahead of Furuhashi on 15.

Fans will be scouring the odds for next season’s top scorer, hoping that this year’s disappointing return could mean better prices next year. There are some online bookmakers that specialise in the football market, and the Scottish Premiership will have plenty of markets to explore. (Source: https://safestbettingsites.co.uk/)

However, fans will be keen to see who is brought in over the summer before placing their bets. Many fans have spoken about the possibility of bringing in Bojan Miovski from Aberdeen who has proven himself at this level. At just 24, the potential to make a profit if he performs well in Europe could also be a factor.

One name that is starting to gain momentum is Odsonne Edouard, no stranger to the Celtic faithful. The French striker has fallen out of favour at Crystal Palace following his £14m move in 2001.

Edouard spent 4 years in Glasgow, netting 88 times from his 179 appearances before netting the club a tidy profit of around £6 million. He made a bright start to his Crystal Palace career, coming off the bench to score a late double in a victory against Spurs, but the relationship has soured recently.

The appointment of Oliver Glasner in February saw Jean-Philippe Mateta preferred over Edouard and as the Premier League attempts to usher in an era of financial responsibility, clubs including Crystal Palace are looking at who they can offload.

Edouard has apparently been made available and a price tag of around £9 million could be good business for a talented forward who is still just 26. He has confessed that he still looks out for Celtic results as a fan, but the money available down south could be difficult for the club to compete with.

Edouard never made it a secret that he wanted to play in the English Premiership, describing the league as his ‘goal’. He might be tempted to try and find another club that would have the funds to invest in a player who has a relatively decent return for an average Premier League club.

This season he has scored 7 goals from 29 appearances, 12 of which came off the bench. There are plenty of teams that would relish the opportunity to buy a player like that.

Hopefully, his allegiances to Celtic and his relationship with Rodgers who brought him to Glasgow the first time could sway things.

Adam Idah will be hopeful that he has done enough to earn a permanent move to the club in the summer, and he would be a significantly cheaper option.

Whether the club lead with Kyogo, Idah, or Edouard next season, fans will be able to find odds online with licensed UK operators or offshore options for people looking for casinos not on GamStop.
