Transfer season is ramping up and one position Celtic seem eager to strengthen this month is left-back. Alexandro Bernabei is providing little competition to Greg Taylor meaning Brendan Rodgers is keen to add another left-sided full-back to the defensive ranks.
One player who may fit the bill is Owen Beck. The Welsh internationalist spent the first half of the season on loan at Dundee, where he excelled, before being recalled by Liverpool.
Last night, conflicting reports emerged on the 21-year-old. Transfermarkt stated that Celtic remains firmly interested in Beck. Initially, it was said the Reds don’t want to let him go because of a shortage of left-backs but Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are set for returns to fitness soon meaning a departure could be on the cards.

On the other hand, journalist Mark Hendry posted on X, saying that Liverpool are looking to keep hold of Beck just now and that a loan in England could be on the cards. He did state, though, that the Hoops still like the defender.
Whether it is Beck or not, it seems the champions will bring in a left-back at some point this month. As well as the ex-Dundee player, Estoril man Tiago Araujo has been linked but similarly, the situation still remains rather unclear.
We are only halfway through the January window and between now and the end of it, several other players will most certainly be named as potential targets for the Parkhead side.
