Matt O’Riley has officially completed his move from Celtic to Brighton, concluding the transfer saga with a record-breaking deal for the Scottish champions.
The midfielder travelled to the south coast over the weekend to undergo a medical and finalise the terms of his transfer.
Celtic could receive a fee that could reach £30 million, including a sell-on clause, marking it as the highest transfer fee received in the club’s history.
He’s signed a 5-year deal with Brighton.
Throughout the transfer process, O’Riley exemplified professionalism. Brendan Rodgers commended his conduct, noting that O’Riley continued to train well and even put in extra work up until his last day with the club, demonstrating professionalism.
The move to Brighton offers O’Riley a new challenge in the Premier League, where he will join a team that has an attractive style of play and ambitions to compete for European places.
This step in his career provides an exciting opportunity to develop further under the guidance of Brighton’s management, away from the European spotlight but within a competitive league that could enhance exposure.
Matt has given us some amazing moments and we wish him all the best!
