Confirmed: Celtic Team V Salzburg – Brown On Bench

All Celtic need to do tonight at Celtic Park is avoid defeat in their final group game against Salzburg. A draw will see Celtic playing European football into the new year. A draw will be no easy feat, Salzburg has won all five of their Group B matches.

At one point the two Red Bull teams looked like a dead cert to finish first and second in the group. Celtic have had a real turnaround in the last couple of months that’s seen them put their European destiny back into their own hands. They have also won the first silverware of the season and sit pretty on top of the SPFL table.

A big part of this new found form has come with a new looking midfield trio. Ryan Christie is scoring goals for fun. Callum McGregor, who dropped into the hole, has been a revelation as Celtic seem to be attacking with a new blistering pace. Brendan Rodgers has understandably stuck with that winning midfield for tonight’s vital clash. Who honestly thought that Scott Brown would have to fight his way back into a Celtic team? It’s not like the Celtic captain played any poor games before his injury.
