In an unexpected twist, Adam Montgomery, our young academy talent, has returned early from his season-long loan at Fleetwood.
Initially sent to gain experience under Celtic legend Scott Brown, Montgomery’s journey took a turn as Fleetwood underwent managerial changes, Lee Johnson came in after Broony but was swiftly sacked, Fleetwood are now led by former Ibrox midfielder Charlie Adam.
Montgomery’s time with the Cod Army saw him feature in six matches, marking his debut with a win over Tranmere Rovers in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. However, his stint was marred by injuries, limiting his opportunities to truly shine with the League One club.
Back at Celtic, Montgomery’s return adds depth to our squad. We’d be very surprised if Adam was being brought back to full a first team squad place. In reality they might just be looking for another loan deal for the player in the January window.
Celtic are currently looking for a left back, where Adam predominantly plays. With Bernabei and even Liam Scales able to fill in for Greg Taylor, it doesn’t appear there’s space.
