This acquisition comes just after Celtic parted ways with Matt O’Riley, who moved to Brighton for a substantial £30 million fee.
Engels, only 20 years old, is highly regarded for his skills in midfield and is expected to fill the void left by O’Riley.
Brendan Rodgers has been particularly keen on bringing Engels to Glasgow. Engels’ arrival is seen as a pivotal part of Celtic’s plans to strengthen their lineup as they aim to continue their domestic dominance and make an impact in European competitions.
The manager is keen to bring in another midfielder on deadline day, but time is now ticking out.
