The 25-year old spent last season with Oostende on loan, and after impressing over the campaign in Belgium, Oostende has decided to take up their option to buy.
At this point last season, not many were sure what direction Hendry’s career was going to go in, after a poor start to life at Celtic and then picking up a long-term injury whilst on loan in Australia.
However, the Scottish defender has well and truly turned his career around whilst in Belgium, also gaining a return to international football representing Scotland this summer. So now it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see him be sold instantly for bigger money.
Some fans might be disappointed we didn’t see Hendry return to the club after a good spell out on loan with the Hoops in need of defensive reinforcements going into next season.
But from Hendry’s point of view, you can definitely see why he has chosen to complete the move elsewhere and attempt to continue the upturn in his career that he has seen over the past 12 months.
