Callum Osmand has wasted no time making an impact for Celtic B, finding the net to put Stephen McManus’ side ahead in the KDM Evolution Trophy clash with Clyde at New Douglas Park.
It was the kind of run and finish that will please both McManus and Brendan Rodgers, showcasing the sharpness and movement that encouraged Celtic to bring the 19-year-old north from Fulham in June.
Osmand, making one of his first competitive appearances in the Hoops, had been patient for this opportunity after spending much of pre-season travelling with the senior squad. While he featured in friendlies against Cork City, Estrela da Amadora and Sporting CP, he had yet to make his mark in a competitive setting – until now.

The goal came after a lively opening spell from the young Celts, who looked to move the ball quickly and exploit gaps in the Clyde backline. Donovan’s vision to thread the ball into Osmand’s path was matched by the striker’s intelligent run, splitting the defence and leaving him one-on-one with the keeper.

Finishing calmly, Osmand’s celebration showed a mix of relief and delight. For a player still settling into life in Glasgow, getting on the scoresheet so early in his Celtic B involvement could be a major boost to his confidence.
McManus will be encouraged by the link-up play between his forward line, with Osmand’s pace and movement already proving a problem for Clyde.
If the young striker can maintain this level of performance for the remainder of the match, he could give Rodgers another reason to keep him firmly in mind for Falkirk on Friday night.
