Como Move Was in Motion Before Celtic – Kuhn on Fabregas Interest

Nicolas Kuhn has revealed that his move to Serie A side Como had been in the works long before he left Celtic, with manager Cesc Fàbregas a long-time admirer of the winger.

Kuhn completed a £17 million switch to Italy earlier this summer after 18 months at Parkhead, and could be set to face his former teammates in the Football On The Lake tournament this weekend. But the groundwork for the transfer was laid well before his time in Glasgow.

“I had already spoken to Fàbregas; he wanted to bring me here even before I went to Celtic,” Kuhn said to TuttoMercatoWeb.

“He’s known me for a couple of years and has been an important part of it. I think the project speaks for itself: they want to grow quickly. It’s great to be part of it.”

Kuhn explained that Como first tried to sign him during his time at Rapid Wien, before Celtic secured his signature in January 2024. The relationship with Fabregas and the vision the club has set out, ultimately convinced him to make the move this summer.

Fabregas began his coaching career with Como’s U19s in 2023, moving quickly through the ranks. He was appointed interim first-team boss later that year, then became assistant before taking over permanently this July following the club’s promotion to Serie A.

Now reunited in Italy, Fabregas and Kuhn will be aiming to make their mark in the top flight. With Celtic and Como both involved in this week’s friendly tournament, a quick reunion with the winger’s former club may come sooner than expected.
